Healthspan Intervention
Healthspan Intervention Program
Inspired by the pioneering work of Dr. Peter Attia, MD, and his book Outlive, the Healthspan Intervention Program at Integrated Psychology Group (IPG) is designed to address the health-related changes that often accompany aging. As older adults face significant health challenges that necessitate lifestyle modifications, this program aims to support them in achieving optimal mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Program Overview
The Healthspan Intervention Program is a structured, three-part process—Awareness, Acceptance, and Action—designed to facilitate comprehensive transformation. Through this process, clients are guided through:
-
Awareness: Gaining insight into how health changes impact their lifestyle and well-being.
-
Acceptance: Embracing these changes with a proactive mindset, allowing for effective adaptation.
-
Action: Implementing strategic lifestyle modifications to enhance overall health and longevity.
Utilizing evidence-based techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness practices, the program aims to improve clients’ overall well-being. It supports the development and execution of tailored prevention and early intervention strategies, addressing a range of issues from behavioral health challenges and unhealthy behaviors to chronic health conditions.

Healthspan Intervention is specifically designed for individuals seeking to alter their health trajectory through informed lifestyle changes and personal growth. By integrating psychological and behavioral strategies, the program empowers clients to navigate their health challenges and achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Background

Muriel, a 55-year-old dentist, is dealing with multiple health challenges as she navigates menopause. Alongside managing common menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings, Muriel has been diagnosed with hypertension. She is also experiencing significant sleep disturbances, which are affecting her overall well-being. Adding to her stress is the recent empty nest syndrome, as her two adult children have moved out of the home. The combination of her demanding dental practice and the emotional adjustments to an empty nest has left Muriel feeling overwhelmed and struggling to manage her health effectively

How the Program Helps
The Healthspan Intervention component of the program offers Muriel a comprehensive approach to address her diverse health concerns. Through personalized health assessments, Muriel received targeted strategies to manage menopause symptoms and hypertension. The program integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help Muriel cope with the emotional and psychological impacts of her health issues and the transition to an empty nest. Additionally, mindfulness techniques will support her in improving sleep quality and managing stress. By combining these approaches, Muriel can implement effective lifestyle changes, enhance her overall health, and better balance the demands of her dental practice with her personal adjustments to an empty nest.
